1/21/11
What a busy day! I will make this a brief post (A. because it is 4am, B. because while it was busy it was not a details needed day). When we woke we raced to 8am cares and feeding. Since we had not made the 5pm or 8pm we did not know how much he was taking at a feeding. At 2p the nurse figured we would be lucky for him to get to 30cc's and not need some of it by feeding tube. When we got there he was taking "full feeds" at 50 cc's. What great progress you made in the night buddy!!! They upped his feedings every time by 5cc's and he tolerated each up great. She hoped that he would tolerate 50cc's then they could take the feeding tube out. She also said that since he was now at 1 liter of oxygen maybe they could drop him again on that today. At the 11am feeding Dr Hanson came by and checked on him. I had seen Dr Hanson down stairs many times so it was nice to finally meet him. He decided to take the feeding tube out and would take Aedan to room air after the 11am feeding. WOW, what amazing progress!!! He again stated if it was not for the antibiotic he would be discharging us but we will stay for the full dose of antibiotics. He did say that all the tests had come back clear but that Aedan Bili count had gone up so he needed to be under the phototherapy lights for a bit again. That is ok, 2 steps forward one baby step back. This does mean he has no clothes again but that is a minor step back so we can deal easily. At 12:10p, Sellenee and her family arrived to drop off supplies for us. She is such an amazing friend. She had gotten clothes for me, books and toys for the boys, hair supplies, Aedan's diaper bag, Vitamins and Tea for me, and movies for the boys. They will be easily and happily entertained with everything she brought plus everything we already have access to here at RMH. We then ate lunch at RMH (quickly) and raced back to Aedan for Cares at 2pm. He was doing so well at taking feeds (he does burp alot but that is an easy fix). After the 2pm feed we went down stairs to wait for Lori and the boys. She arrived at 3:30pm and we got in the van. The boys were excited to see us and told us all about what they had done (including Ethan shredding Lori's plants). As Lori drove (we had to drive her back to Ft Collins to be with Erick, my nephew) I set the DVD players for the boys and talked to them. They were full of stories (not that all were understandable). KaCe was so excited to go to "McDonalds House" and kept asking when we would get there. They both were troopers through all of this! We met with Erick, Hayden (his sweet daughter), and Whitney (his girlfriend) and Lori got in with them. Once we got back on the road we decided we needed to find Dinner for all of us as we were going to miss the dinner at RMH by just a bit. We picked up McDonalds and headed south. We got the RMH just after 8 and the kind volunteer at the house helped us unload and cart (wagon) everything in and up to our room. We showed the boys our room and a bit on our floor but otherwise told them everything else would be treat for tomorrow. We then went back to the room and changed the boys to PJ's and let them watch a bit of Toy Story 2 (we own all 3 but they never watch them in order). At 10pm I decided it was late enough (still not back on their schedule through this) to go to bed. I shut the DVD and TV off and we went to bed. Good night!!!
