Early in January we brought our puppy's brother home from my sister's house. We have settled well. Bear (smaller puppy from sister) was settling in well....or so we thought. Yesterday KaCe had therapy in Sheridan so we got up and headed out. We ended up not getting back till 4pm. By the time I got my work that needed done finished, It was 5:15pm. I came in the apartment and walked the dogs......Hersheys (CoCo) seemed to be skittish around Bear and was trying to stay clear of him....huh when did that start?!? I brought them in to Travis (still on leashes) and headed to the bathroom to clean up after a day of 2 dogs....I hear a stop....stop....then Travis saying oh boy...when did that happen. I come out to KaCe holding Bear's leash and getting as far away from Aedan and Travis as he could. Travis had Hershey's in his arms and was checking him out. Hershey's had been attacked.....He left eye was bleeding, yellow pussy, and he was whimpering. Yep....the smaller pup (Bear) went to a new home within 3 hours!! He is in a good home who understand he needs to be the ONLY animal as he has aggression issues with other dogs. Hershey's went to the vet this morning and he has a bacterial infection that is like a staph infection in humans. We caught it early and it probably was from an attack some time last week that we did not know about. He is now on an ointment for his eyes and an antibiotic for the infection. Normally they would do a steroid for this infection but because of the open eye wound we have to treat with oral antibiotics. We hope that 7 days of the antibiotic and 7 days of the ointment will whip the infection within 3-4 days. If it gets worse (and it could) we will end up with the steroid after all.....I just hope we can get through this without that!!! Hershey's is mostly (1 accident at most inside per day) potty trained. He does not whine, he listens well, he walks on a leash and stays right with us. We really do love him!!!
On a different (and Brighter) note.....KaCe is scheduled to be finished with Therapy next week. Shelly expects him to have issues down the road and probably having to come back but it will be for 3-6 visits versus the 45 we have almost finished. She says he is really well regulated, really well adjusted, and she really feels he is working well at controlling him self with little to no outside control. We are still having a few hitting/kicking/punching issues between him and others but we are working on finding out solutions to that as well! He loves to make hamburgers (my biggest sensory challenge) and is doing great fine motor skills. Shelly believes that he is reading at a 1st or 2nd grade level and will continue to flourish in school. I am amazed at how well he is trying to help around the house.....he loads and unloads the dishwasher, washer, and dryer, he keeps the boys' room picked up and loves hanging up and putting away the clothes. He really is doing great at being a big helper around the house. This week he had a mommy/KaCe date, we went to a cooking with kids class. It was a blast and he is really wanting to make those recipes this weekend....we will sure try.
Ethan is mischievous. He is almost always into something he should not be into.......he is always taking his seat belt off and climbing the seats. I know it is a faze but really........I am over it!! He is really wanting to do everything KaCe does so we work hard to create similar tasks for him, that we know he will finish.
Aedan is.....Aedan. He is teething again, hates this soy milk change, battling separation anxiety (if it isn't mommy, daddy, or Miss Cheyenne he wants NOTHING to do with it). He can't have any dairy products so we are having to read all labels......luckily he can have golden oreos and ramen noodles. He loves Ramen and loves to steal cookies from me!!!
